Situated on the northwest side of the beautiful Mirabello Bay, Agios Nikolaos is a quiet town that evolves into a trendy and elegant resort every summer. It is named after the cute Byzantine chapel of Saint Nicholas on &#8222;Nissi&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Saint Nicolas is the patron saint of sailors and of the country of Greece. &#8222;Agios&#8220;, as Agios Nikolaos is referred to by the locals, surrounded by green hills covered in olive trees, is a very pretty town built around a small lake, joined to the sea by a narrow channel.<\/p>\n<p>Agios retains the ambience of a quaint fishing port town, despite its tourist infrastructure.
